Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Crash Bandicoot is back! Spin, jump, wump and repeat as you take on the epic challenges and adventures through the three games that started it all, Crash Bandicoot™, Crash Bandicoot™ 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot™ 3: Warped.

Until this past year, I had never played a Crash Bandicoot game. I didn’t own a PS1 or a PS2, and the only experience I had with the series was the small segment you could play in Uncharted 4. I knew people who owned N. Sane Trilogy and liked it, so when it became a PS Plus game of the month I decided to try it out.

This collection offers Crash 1, 2, and Warped (3). This remade collection looks and for the most part, plays great. The objective here is the same as any old platformer – traverse and complete each level, with optional collectibles along the way (although after the first game there are crystals that are mandatory to collect for each world). Let’s go through my thoughts on each game.

Crash 1 is the hardest by far, and it is seriously unforgiving. The first world isn’t bad, but once you get past that it becomes so frustrating at points. The damn bridge levels are a nightmare. Will never revisit.

Crash 2 takes the groundwork of 1, and improves it immensely. It’s a platformer with the right amount of challenge while still being fun. This is my favorite out of the bunch for how consistent it is.

Warped is a mix of 2, but with a lot more variety in its levels. Instead of every level having the goal of making it to the end, there are some where you are doing motorcycle races or dog fights in airplanes. It’s cool and refreshing, albeit a little too easy compared to what came before it.

If you find yourself wanting to check this collection out, just remember 1 SUCKS at times, but the other 2 games are definitely worth playing. I have Crash 4 downloaded and will get around to it eventually.
